See wildlife up close when Secret World opens its doors this weekend

-

Secret World Rescue Centre near Burnham-On-Sea is holding a series of special open days over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Visitors will be able to see resident foxes and badgers up close during the event on Saturday August 24th, Sunday 25th and Bank Holiday Monday.

Also on show will be birds of prey including a kestrel, European Tawny, Barn Owls and Bengal Eagle Owl close at hand.

Children are being encouraged to bring feathers and other ‘natural treasures’ that they have found for identification.

Secret World founder Pauline Kidner told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Entertainment for youngsters will also include a ‘Tracks and Facts Tent’ where they can try their skill at identifying feathers and other wildlife items.”

“There will be half-hourly talks taking place throughout each day and a chance to feed foxes and meet some of the resident animals cared for at the centre.”

Opening hours will be 10am-4pm. Admittance will be free but donations will be encouraged, as will tins of cat food to help feed Secret World’s growing family of orphaned hedgehogs, foxes and badgers who get through more than 100 tins a day!

Hundreds of orphaned baby birds and wild animals from all over the West Country will be received at the wildlife rescue centre during the summer months.
