Brother and sister from Burnham-On-Sea sing their way to medal win

-

A brother and sister from Burnham-On-Sea have been praised by judges for their singing at a local arts festival.

Rachel Perry, 15, and her brother Matt, 13, claimed a bronze medal singing a beautiful duet, in harmony at the Weston Festival this week.

“The standard of this year’s competition was the highest I have ever seen. They both sang incredibly well with every note pitch perfect,” singing teacher Siobhan Johnson told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“I am so proud of them as they both work so hard in lessons and are always a delight to listen to.”

She added that her two singing groups battled it out against each other with ‘The Siobhan Johnson Singers’ Junior Choir singing a stunning ‘Les Miserables’ Medley and winning a silver medal and a high mark of Distinction.

‘The Burnham District Pantomime Society’ chorus group snatched the gold medal and a top mark of Distinction.

“Both groups gained fantastic feedback from the adjudicator who thoroughly enjoyed their performances,” added Siobhan.

Meanwhile, Tom LLywarch, 14, sang a superb solo of ‘Les Miserables’ and claimed the fourth place in an extremely competitive and large class.

“Tom has an incredible timbre to his voice which is going from strength to strength as he gets older. Tom was congratulated personally by the adjudicator afterwards who commended his wonderful voice,” said Siobhan.
