Scenes like these could be repeated over the next few days after a severe weather warning was issued for the Burnham-On-Sea area ahead of possible snowfall.

The Met Office has forecasted that several centimetres of sleet and snow could fall across Somerset late on Sunday and into the early part of next week.

“There is a risk that a band of rain spreading from the southwest during Sunday will turn to sleet and snow,” a Met Office spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“There is the potential for accumulations in places and the public should be aware of possible disruption to travel.”

The forecasters added that there is still some uncertainty about the severity of the weather and Burnham-On-Sea.com will have more updates during the weekend.
