Walkers sought for annual Burnham to Brean charity beach walk

-

Now in its 10th year, the 2013 Brean Beach Walk starts at 10am from Burnham Pier and follows a route along the beach to Berrow and on to Brean Cove.

Walkers will have a choice of a 7.5 mile walk, turning back at Berrow, or taking on the challenge of a 15 mile hike to Brean Cove and back.

Organiser Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Previous beach walks have been fun events, attracting people of all ages and abilities. This a great opportunity for you to get some exercise, give the dog an extra long walkies, and enjoy our fabulous beach in the company of fellow walkers.”

For the more competitive medals, will be awarded to the first five walkers to get to Brean, while everyone else gets a certificate.

“Alzheimer’s can affect anyone – statistics show that 1 in 4 people know or have known someone with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. In my case, it was my Mum, Joyce, whose memory deteriorated so badly that in the last years of her life she could not recognise her close family.”

“So, please, get a group of friends and family together and join us on Sunday 19th May and raise a few quid for the Alzheimer’s Society. The earlier you sign up the more time you will have to get lots of sponsors!”
