Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens will be marking National Storytelling Week with a special event on Saturday (2nd February).

The Friends of Marine Cove, with the support of Sedgemoor District Council, will be hosting a storytelling day from 10am-3pm.

Children’s entertainer Adrian Beckingham, pictured above, will be reading stories in a teepee and local author Linda Bond will be reading her own short stories.

Students at Highbridge’s King Alfred School have also been approached for young authors to come forward with their short stories in a competition to win a £10 book token donated by the Friends of Marine Cove with the winner being announced on the day.

Jacqui Strong, Marine Cove Community Gardener, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Interest from local families has been great and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone at the event which is another first for Marine Cove. Local Author Linda Bond will also be attending the storytelling event between mid-day and 1pm reading some of her own short stories so be sure to come along.”

For anyone keen to be inspired by a local author or to guarantee a space in the reading teepee, contact Jacqui on 07584909385. Owing to the teepee size there is a limitation on numbers.
