A fire temporarily closed a seafront amusement arcade in Burnham-On-Sea on Friday evening (March 22nd).

These were the scenes on the Esplanade where two fire crews were sent to Sunspot Amusements at 5.50pm amid reports of a small blaze inside the main gaming area.

A fire service spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We received calls of a fire within the property. Two fire appliances were sent to investigate and, on their arrival, the crews found smoke issuing from the ground floor of the building.”

“Crews used a positive pressure ventilator to clear the building of the smoke as the manager had already extinguished the fire prior to fire service arrival.”

It is understood the fire was contained to a section of ceiling in the arcade. The cause was accidental.

The arcade renained partially closed on Friday while safety checks were undertaken in the property, but was fully re-open on Saturday.
