Swimmers make a splash for local good causes at Brean Swimarathon

-

Over £2,000 was raised for local charities when more than 100 people from across the Burnham-On-Sea area took part in a sponsored swim in Brean on Sunday (February 10th).

The annual Swimarathon, run by Burnham Rotary Club and the Inner Wheel, involved 17 teams swimming lengths of the Brean Splash pool to raise charity cash.

The swimmers retained 45% of their sponorship funds for their nominated good causes while the remainder went to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Rotary charities.

Organiser Jim Tancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were delighted with the number of swimmers of all ages taking part. A great time was had by everyone and we hope a good sum has been raised for our local causes.”

Among those taking part were Burnham Swimming Club, Burnham Inner Wheel, Brent Knoll Girl Guides, Brent Knoll School, Berrow Guides, Burnham RNLI, Berrow Brownies, Matt Derbyshire, North Sedgemoor Childrens Cluster Group, Monarchs Gymnastics Group and TP Lewis Accountants.
