Burnham-On-Sea’s MP swapped her job in parliament to become a tour guide for a day this week to mark English Tourism Week.

Tessa Munt joined staff at Cheddar Gorge and Caves to learn some of the key skills in becoming a guide and promote Somerset tourism.

Cheddar Gorge’s CEO David Bradley provided her with an insight into the daily tasks undertaken by Cheddar’s tour guides.

She was involved in delivering a tour of the caves, a Gorge bus tour and even flint-napping skills at the museum of pre-history.

The MP said: “It was great to spend some time in and around Cheddar Gorge this week. Cheddar is one of the jewels in the crown of tourist attractions in the South West and I am keen to support and promote it as much as possible.”
