Burnham and Highbridge’s Town Clerk Eileen Shaw was toasted by friends and colleagues on Thursday (March 28th) when she retired after 14 years in the role.

Over 20 people gathered for Eileen’s last day of work at the Town Council Chambers in Jaycroft Road.

Mayor Ken Smout presented her with a retirement award to mark the occasion.

He said: “We thank her for all her help and dedication to the role over the past 14 years and wish her well in her retirement.”

Eileen told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There have been plenty of highs and lows over the years, but overall I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and thank everyone for their support over the years.”

The Town Council’s Deputy Town Clerk, Denise Emery, will take over Eileen’s role in April following an extensive recruitment process.
