Three historic Massey Ferguson tractors which set off from Burnham-On-Sea last week on a fundraising journey to Land’s End are due to return today (Wednesday, August 28th).

The drivers – Alan Rawles, Colin Durston and Gordon Cox – left Burnham’s Morrisons car park on the town’s seafront last Thursday to travel on a 500-mile round-trip to the Cornish landmark and back to raise over £5,000 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

The tractors reached Barnstaple last Thursday evening, Newquay on Friday and arrived at Land’s End on Saturday and then returned to Falmouth by the evening.

Sunday night was spent at Dartmouth with Monday at Exmouth, and Tuesday’s overnight stop being Weymouth. They are due to arrive back in Burnham today at around 5pm.

The event is being organised by the Rotary Club’s vice-president Ashley Edwards and past-president Colin Durston. Sponsorship so far has raised more than £5,000.

Colin says the air ambulance is his favourite charity, since he probably owes his life to it following an accident on his farm some 10 years ago.
