British Transport Police officers have appealed for the public’s help in identifying two men they want to speak to in connection with an incident on board a train in Highbridge.

Officers have released CCTV images of two men they believe will have information which can assist the investigation into the incident which took place on Thursday, 22nd November 2012.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Richard Day told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A group of three men in their late teens or early twenties boarded the 6.37pm service to Taunton at Weston-super-Mare rail station.”

“When the train arrived at Highbridge and Burnham station, two of the men pulled the emergency stop alarm.”

“A number of other passengers tried to intervene but the men began assaulting them.”

“It is believed the men had intended to travel to Bristol but had boarded the train to Taunton by mistake.”

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the men and I am now appealing for anyone who recognises the men in these photographs to contact BTP, as I believe they will both have key information which can assist this investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
