In photos: Over 200 take part in Burnham-On-Sea's Spring Triathlon

Over 200 athletes of all ages took part in Burnham-On-Sea's Spring Triathlon on Sunday (April 21st).

Sunday's bright sunshine was a far cry from last year when gales and heavy rain forced the organisers from Burnham Swim and Sports Academy to cancel the cycling stage due to safety concerns.

This year's event saw 128 adult competitors completing a gruelling 250m swim, 10km bike ride and a 2.5km run while the 108 youngsters completed a shorter course with participants coming from across the UK.

The overall winner was 20 year-old Billy Osmond from Bristol, pictured above with organiser Martin Rogers, who won in a fast time of 31 minutes and 34 seconds. Incredibly, it was his first competitive triathlon.

However, it was 92-year-old Burnham pensioner Arthur Gilbert, right, who justifiably took the limelight when he completed the course, as we featured here.

Martin Rogers told "We had a really good turnout and ideal weather conditions today."

"Big thanks go to all our athletes, marshalls and local residents for their support. It was a great success and everyone enjoyed the day."

The full results are available here: Adults, Tri Star 1, Tri Star 2, Tri Star 3.
