New plans for 35 flats unveiled for Burnham-On-Sea town centre site

-

Brand new proposals to build two blocks of three-storey retirement apartments in place of a former garage in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea have been unveiled this week.

The brand new scheme, from Abracore Ltd, proposes 35 apartments be built on the site of the former Tucker’s Garage in Victoria Street, which was knocked down in 2007.

Sedgemoor District Council rejected earlier proposals for the site in July after raising concerns about flooding risks, affordable housing, outdoor sports facilities and a loss of privacy for nearby homeowners.

But the developer says its new scheme has addressed the comments and design changes have been made.

Sedgemoor District Council’s planning department is currently accepting feedback on the scheme – application number 11/13/00097 – until October 4th and its Development Control Committee is then expected to consider the scheme before a final decision is taken on whether to allow the development.

The site was previously occupied by the former Tucker’s Garage which was demolished six years ago, as covered here.
