This cleverly arranged entry was judged the winner of Somerset’s annual Turnip Prize spoof art awards on Monday evening (December 2nd).

The winning artwork, named ‘A play on words’, comprised of a dictionary with a copy of a Shakespeare play on top, and was displayed above the bar at the New Inn in Wedmore, near Burnham-On-Sea, where the winner was chosen.

The landlord presented the ‘artist’, who called herself Percy Long-Trong, with a turnip, completing the tradition, which first began over 10 years ago. The award is handed out every year at this time of year for the worst artwork.

The spoof award is voted for every year by Wedmore residents and entrants can be disqualified for putting too much effort into their entries!
