Burnham-On-Sea Inner Wheel Club collects for typhoon victims

Members of Burnham-On-Sea's Inner Wheel Club were so shocked at the scenes of devastation in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan that they had to help.

In recent days, the club's members have been collecting for the Philippines Typoon Disaster Appeal.

Customers at Sanders Garden World in Brent Knoll have been giving generously towards the appeal, helping the Rotary Club fund water survival boxes and shelter boxes for those affected.

District Chairman Rita Jolliffe, along with members of the Burnham-On-Sea club, have thanked customers for the generous donations.

Typhoon Haiyan left a huge amount of devastation across the Philippines and the official death toll stands at more than 5,200, but it is feared this could rise much higher.

The Red Cross, Burnham Rotary Club and Burnham Lions have also been collecting funds for the disaster appeal in recent days.
