Secretary of State introduced to 'freecycling' during visit to Wedmore

Vince Cable, The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, visited Wedmore at the weekend with Burnham-On-Sea's MP Tessa Munt.

Mr Cable picked up a few freebies at a Freecycle event in Wedmore alongside his parliamentary private secretary.

At the Freecycle event, organised by the village green group, he took away a set of bathroom scales for his London home.

Freecycling - or free recycling - is the act of giving away usable unwanted items to others to try and avoid disposing of them in landfills as waste.

The pair also opened a new sensory garden in Glastonbury and attended a question and answer session for business people, attended by 150 people.

Ms Munt said: "I know how important these visits are to Vince – it gives him an invaluable opportunity to hear about the challenges businesses face."

"By giving them an opportunity to ask him questions, it allows Vince to get feedback on how the department of Business, Innovation and Skills can work with and support our businesses and I'm glad to have given some of our Somerset companies this opportunity."
