Can you spare some time? New Burnham volunteer register launches

-

A new volunteering service has launched in Burnham-On-Sea this week where residents can register their interest in helping local events and groups in the town.

The new service, called ‘BOS Jobs’, enables residents to join a register that lists members of the community who are willing to volunteer their time to help and support events in the town. It is also a register of groups requiring the services of volunteers.

Linda Bullimore from Burnham Town Team, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There are many benefits to volunteering, including making new friends, improving your self esteem and confidence, helping employment prospects and also networking and learning new opportunities.”

She added: “We need an army of local volunteers to help with marshalling and setting up events in the town, meeting and greeting visitors and other activities in the daytime as well as evenings – just a couple of hours at a time. Groups can also help provide manpower and in reciprocation receive the help of volunteers.”

To pledge your support, email bosjobs@talktalk.net, giving your name, contact details, abilities, special needs, certification for particular purpose (such as CRB etc) and availability.
