Eighteen jobs look set to be lost with the imminent closure of two Highbridge transport companies, it has been announced this week.

Woodberry Brothers and Haines Ltd, based in Commerce Way on the Walrow Industrial Estate, said it is to withdraw funding for two transport companies, Caxton Transport Limited and Caxton Home Delivery Limited, with effect from 15th October.

Director Mark Woodberry told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Monday (October 7th): “As part of our ongoing improvement plan at WBH we have withdrawn funding of the two transport companies.”

“This could sadly result in up to 18 redundancies in those businesses but will allow WBH to concentrate fully on our core business of manufacturing the Caxton brand and will enable us to expand our future service offer to our customers.”

He added: “All customers should be re-assured that our recognised service levels will not be adversely affected.”

“A comprehensive service and support upgrade will be launched by the company at the Interiors Show in January 2014.”
