The winners of Burnham and Highbridge’s annual Christmas lights competition have been announced this weekend.

Town councillors Pat Burge, Tom Nicholls, Dennis Davey (right) and Kate Lawson have visited scores of displays across the two towns before picking the winners.

In Burnham-On-Sea, the best house award goes to 1 St Christopher’s Way (pictured above) while the runner-up is 9 Ashcott Place.

In Highbridge, the best house award goes to 25 Smith Way with the runner-up is 26 North Avenue.

First place in the best-decorated business category, judged by Cllr Dennis Davey, has gone to Highbridge DIY in Market Street while Secret World in Burnham’s Victoria Street is the runner-up.

The award for the best group of illuminated houses has gone to the homes of Burnham’s Trinity Close, pictured right.

Cllr Nicholls told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have been impressed by the quality of the entires in this year’s competition. There were some very good new entries and the regular competitors improved on their already high standard from previous years. The only disappointment was that there weren’t more entries.”

Cash prizes will be awarded for best individual display (£25, cup and certificate), runner-up individual display (£10 and certificate), best group entry (shared shield and certificates). There is also a prize for the best business window (£20, cup and certificate) and runner-up business (£10, cup and certificate). The prizes will be presented at the next Town Council meeting Monday 3rd February.
