A new Burnham and Highbridge Youth Town Council has been formed to give young people a voice in the two towns.

The Somerset Rural Youth Project is overseeing the meetings and is inviting young people aged 11-19 to get involved.

The next meeting will be held this Thursday (5th December) from 7-9pm at The Old Courthouse in Jaycroft Road, Burnham TA8 1LE.

The meetings aim to give young people a voice in order to make a difference in the local community.

Somerset County Youth Service and the Town Council are providing funding to support young people to plan a couple community and fundraising events.

If you want to get involved or have a great idea please give the Youth and Community Worker a call on 01278 722100 or just attend this week’s meeting.

Jonathan Smith, Volunteer Project Support Worker, has given his time to recruiting young people for the project and said: “This is a fab way to get your voice heard!”
