Burnham and Highbridge Youth Weekend fun starts today

-

Organisers of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Youth Weekend are making final preparations for the event, which starts today (Saturday).

The event will get underway with a parade of youth groups through the town, followed by a ‘Dance On The Beach’ music and dance event on the seafront.

Youth groups from Burnham and Highbridge will be taking part in the parade, which will start at 11.30am at Maddocks Slade on the northern end of The Esplanade before proceeding to College Street, and then along the High Street to Pier Street and back onto the seafront.

On arrival on The Esplanade, the youngsters will be displaying their talents and giving out information about their organisations.

Members of Highbridge’s Lucy Gunter Dance Centre will be holding dance demonstrations on a seafront stage from 1-3.30pm on Saturday and 11.30am-3pm on Sunday.

Jonathan Smith, organiser of the Youth Weekend, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The event will give youth groups an opportunity to promote themselves and prove that we have some great talented kids within our towns.”

“We invite everyone to come along and enjoy the entertainment and support them in the parade.”

There will also be a dozen craft stalls set up during the event and the nearby BARB hovercraft station will be open during Sunday to give out beach safety information.
