Welsh international football player to visit Berrow group tonight

-

Welsh international women’s footballer Natasha Harding will be the guest coach at Berrow Girls football development squad tonight (Friday, 28th March).

The session will be held at King Alfred School’s astro pitch in Highbridge from 7.30-8.30pm when new young players are welcome to go along.

The group is part of Berrow Junior Football Club and the development squad began two years ago after enquiries from local parents. 25 girls now take part, spanning the under six to under 15 age groups.

The club has recently been successful in obtaining funding from Somerset FA to develop its squad. It has four FA qualified coaches supporting training.

The coaching team are keen to improve awareness of girls’ and women’s football in the local area and new players are welcomed.

“Some of the girls also play in our mixed teams, but many just attend training. We are planning to enter the Somerset Girls League with our U12 team next season and have just secured a kit sponsor for this team,” said a spokesman.

“Natasha will be promoting the start of the new season for the Women’s Super League, whilst helping us promote involvement in girls’ football in the local area.”
