Armistice Day ceremonies set to be held in Burnham and Highbridge

-

Residents in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are set to take part in special ceremonies to mark Armistice Day today (Tuesday, November 11th).

The ceremonies will take place from 10.45am next to the flag pole and fountain in Burnham High Street, and at Highbridge’s Memorial Garden, to honour all who have fallen since WWI, including servicemen killed in recent years.

The silence, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, represents the moment when all guns stopped at the end of World War I.

Highbridge War Memorial Trustees will hold a service of remembrance besides the town’s Memorial Garden at Southwell House, conducted by local clergy.
