Asda’s Highbridge store puts expansion plans on show today

-

Highbridge’s Asda supermarket is holding an public consultation session today (Tuesday) where its plans to extend the store are on show.

The supermarket giant announced last month it wants to refurbish its entire Caxton Road store, adding a brand new mezzanine floor for a cafe, along with other alterations that include a revamp of its car park.

The first of two public consultation sessions is being held today at the store from 10am-7pm for shoppers and local residents to hear more about the proposals. A second session will be held on Saturday, February 15th from 9am-1pm.

“The improvements, if agreed, would allow the store to operate more efficiently, with wider aisles and more checkouts. We would also be able to increase the range of non-food goods, such as our George clothing range, providing more choice,” Asda’s Estates Town Planning Manager Alan Jones told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Before submitting its planning application to Sedgemoor District Council, Asda says it is keen to hear local feedback.

“The views of our local community matter so we hope lots of people will come along, meet members of our team, and give us their feedback,” added Mr Jones. “We’d like to provide more choice and a wider range of goods so that we can continue to provide for our customers’ needs.”

The latest development comes just months after the Highbridge store’s plans for a new petrol station were approved, as first reported here.
