Fun day for autism carers and children to be held in Brean on Sunday

-

A Highbridge mother is holding an afternoon of children’s fun this Sunday (October 19th) to raise awareness of autism and similar conditions.

Kas Drewett has organsied the event at Brean’s Seagull Inn from 2-5pm so that carers of children with autism and their families can enjoy a day with others in a similar situation.

Kas’ seven-year-old son Callum has xyy syndrome and autism and requires 24-hour care.

Kas, pictured with Callum, said: “I’m aware that we are not the only parents or carers in this position, therefore we have decided to put on an afternoon of entertainment for children with special needs, their siblings and parents and carers. We’re hoping to make new friends and support each other.”

Children’s entertainers, including a magician, will perform during the afternoon to provide plenty of entertainment.

Tickets are priced at £3 and can be bought on the door at The Seagull on the day with all the proceeds going to charity. There will also be collections for the Escape Support Group and National Autism Society, both of whom provide support for families caring for those with autism.
