Highbridge In Bloom team appeals for residents to help town’s bid

-

Organisers of Highbridge In Bloom are to hold an open meeting this Friday (April 25th) when residents are being urged to get involved with brightening up the town over the spring and summer.

The Highbridge In Bloom committee is hoping to attract more residents to join them in the planning and planting of displays, plus fundraising and building relationships with local organisations.

“Our meeting will be this Friday, April 25th, at 10.30am in Southwell House, Church Street, when residents who would like to contribute to the ideas and help keep Highbridge in Bloom active, fresh and fragrant are welcome to join us,” said the group’s chairperson Joyce Curtis.

“You don’t have to be a Gardener’s World standard gardener to join us, just like to potter and grow things.”

Highbridge in Bloom has won four Silver Gilt Awards for the town since 2008, plus numerous ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Awards’ for other participating groups and organisations.

In 2011, the group received a South West in Bloom Chairman’s Discretionary Award for the ‘Best Kept Commercial Site in the Area’, followed by an ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Award’ the following year. For more details and information, contact Joyce Curtis on 792716 or the Secretary Pam Lyes on 784629.
