Burnham’s BARB bowled over by donation from town group

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue has been bowled over by a donation from a club in the town.

Burnham Bowling Club has donated £400 to the seafront charity to help fund its life-saving work across Somerset.

Don Bridges, from Burnham Bowling Club, said: “We wanted the money to a good local cause and picked BARB because of its wonderful work along the coastline and in the recent floods. The money came from us winning the Weston Over 60s League.”

A BARB spokesman said: “We are very grateful for the club’s support. BARB relies on the generosity of local people to keep running, so every penny is very much appreciated.”

BARB Search & Rescue is a registered charity that operates two life-saving hovercrafts and an inshore rescue boat. It is run entirely by volunteers and has helped and rescued hundreds of people since it was formed over 20 years ago.
