Dozens of Girlguiding youngsters from the Burnham-On-Sea area have enjoyed a fun-filled Christmas celebration at Brean Play.

Nearly 100 girls aged 7 – 10, from Burnham, Berrow, Highbirdge and Brent Knoll enjoyed using the play equipment and seeing their Brownie friends from other units duiring the end-of-term party, which also marked the end of the Big Brownie Birthday year.

5th Burnham-on-Sea Brownie leader, Jess Sinnott, said: “The trip to Brean Play was a great chance for the girls to have fun and enjoy each other’s company in a safe, girl-only space. 2014 has been a busy year for Burnham-On-Sea district leaders and girls with the Big Brownie Birthday celebrations. The Christmas party was our finale and we all sang Happy 100th Birthday to each other.”

“All the girls told me how much they enjoyed themselves and they can’t wait to decide where to hold our next district Brownie adventure.”

Sophie, 8, said: “I loved our Christmas party – we had the whole play area to ourselves! We did lots of fun things I enjoyed the slides and the cakes the most!”

Adventures like this are just part of the range of activities open to girls and young women through Girlguiding, which gives them their own space to grow in confidence, raise their aspirations and have fun.
