Parents in Burnham-On-Sea area to benefit from tax-free childcare

-

Hundreds of parents in the Burnham-On-Sea area will get help with childcare costs next year after a government announcement this week.

Burnham’s MP Tessa Munt has welcomed a new major tax-free childcare package which is set to help 3,110 parents across Sedgemoor.

Working families will be given up to £2,000 to ease the cost of childcare as part of a scheme to be rolled out in autumn 2015.

The Government has said it will provide 20 per cent support on childcare costs up to £10,000 per year for each child. For example, it means a family with two children under 12-years-old could benefit by up to £4,000.

Tessa said: “Today’s news provides a huge boost to hard-working families. We’re committed to building a stronger economy and a fairer society and this will help children get off to the best start in life.”

The Government has also said people on Universal Credit will get 85 percent of childcare costs fully covered.
