Burnham And Highbridge Choral Society is seeking new singers to join its ranks for a new season of concerts.

The long-running society meets on Thursday evenings and performs a number of special events through the year.

“We are known for being a really friendly group. While you are having a good sing, you will also be making new friends, your lungs will be getting a workout and they say that it’s good for your blood pressure!” says the group’s Julie Skinner.

“There are no auditions, so come along and enjoy yourself. There is always someone who will help you if you feel unsure of the music or what type of voice you have.”

The society starts its new season on September 4th and those interested in joining or trying it out can go along to Burnham Methodist Church Hall in College Street at 7.20pm. The first three weeks are free so there is no pressure to decide on the first night.

The programme for Christmas will consist of a variety of music from Britten, Gritton, Lauridsen, Rutter, San Saens, Vivaldi and Warlock. The Christmas concert will be on Thursday 11th December at St John’s Church, Highbridge, and the group’s Spring concert is on 25th April 2015 and will be celebrating the 700 year history of St Andrew’s Church in Burnham.
