River Brue crane-in marks start of Burnham’s annual sailing season

-

Two huge cranes towered over Burnham-On-Sea’s Sailing Club on Friday afternoon (March 28th) when 21 boats were hoisted into the River Brue for the town’s spring ‘crane-in’.

The annual tradition is arranged each Spring by the Sailing Club when the yachts are lifted out of the boat yard and into the river in time for the start of the sailing season.

The operation to move the 21 boats and bring two out into the boat yard got underway on Friday afternoon to fit in with the tide times.

“We’ve had good conditions for the event and everything seemed to go smoothly,” a club spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
