A woman was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation by ambulance crews following a fire in West Huntspill on Saturday (May 24th).

Three fire crews from Burnham and Bridgwater were called to a property in Church Road, West Huntspill just before 11am.

“Crews confirmed a fire had occured within a utility room and an ambulance was called for a person suffering from smoke inhalation,” said a spokesman.

“A semi-detached, single-storey building of approximately 10mx10m was affected where a fire had occurred in a utility room.”

“It was extinguished using a dry powder extinguisher plus positive pressure ventilation equipment.”

The utility room was 5% fire-damaged and 70% smoke-damaged with approximately 5% smoke damage to the remainder of the property.

A lady in the home was given oxygen therapy treatment by the fire crews and left in the hands of ambulance personnel.
