Food Festival duo and town fishmongers celebrate awards
organisers of Burnham-On-Sea's Food and Drink Festival have been
named 'Somerset's Food and Drink Heroes Of The Year' this week
while a town fishmonger's shop has also received high praise.
and Sarah Milner-Simonds won the accolade at the annual Somerset
Life Food and Drink Awards, held on Wednesday, in recognition
of their work in promoting local food and drink producers across
Burnham fishmonger shop Seafoods was also a finalist in the best
independent shop category. The
shop's owners, Steve and Gaynor Wright, pictured above with
Bev and Sarah, said they were delighted.
Skidmore, Editor of Somerset Life magazine, which runs the awards,
said of Bev and Sarah: "The winners of this award are passionate
about celebrating the best of local food and drink producers.
They are the brains behind the successful Burnham-on-Sea Food
and Drink Festival which features the Great Burnham Bake Off and
the Great Burnham Brew Off competitions.
Sarah and Beverley say they want to make the most of fresh, natural,
seasonal food, encouraging us all to support the high street,
cutting down our carbon footprint and getting back to enjoying
food and drink for the right reasons."
Food Festival duo said they were 'overwhelmed' with their award.
"To be awarded such an accolade has left us both feeling
quite overwhelmed and shocked," Bev told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
