Burnham-On-Sea police seek woman’s Good Samaritans after assault

-

Police have issued an appeal for two Good Samaritans who came to the help of a distressed woman in Burnham-On-Sea during the early hours of Saturday (20th September) to come forward as they may be important witnesses.

Officers were called at about 4am on Saturday to a report of a woman arriving home in a distressed state reporting an assault.

She said that following the incident, at some time after 1am, she had flagged down a car on the A38 Bristol Road and been given a lift to the Lighthouse Inn in Burnham. She went on towards home on foot and met two young women who saw her safely to her house.

DC Mark White told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We really need to trace these people who helped this young woman, who was very distressed.”

“Not only might they have valuable information which could help our enquiries, but the woman’s family would like to pass on their thanks.”

He added: “The two men who stopped to help this lady were in a black, five-door car. The driver was described as white, young, of small build with dark hair.”

“The passenger was black, in his early twenties and said to be ‘slightly chubbier’ than the driver. The two women who walked her home were both said to be wearing dark-coloured clothing.”

DC White urged anyone with information about the incident to get in touch with him through the police website or by calling 101, quoting reference 97400/14.
