170 runners completed Burnham-On-Sea's annual Half Marathon on
Sunday (October 5th) during ideal running conditions.
Nathan Young from Wells City Harriers, right, cut the finishing
tape in a fast time of one hour, 11 minutes and 59 seconds.
said he was "delighted" to have won and said the good
weather had provided great running conditions.
crowd of spectators cheered on the runners at the start of Sunday's
race at the BASC Ground. The runners headed along Love Lane and
Queen's Drive, before turning along the A38 towards Brent Knoll
and then on to East Brent, Lympsham, Wick Road and Red Road, before
returning to Burnham.
first Burnham finisher was town doctor Stuart Anderson from Burnham
Harriers running club in a good time of 1:33:04.
Sue Nicholls, right, completed the race in a time of 1:41:47.
She was named the UK's top female half marathon runner in her
age group, as we
reported here last year.
the other local runners was Colan Walker (1:34:22), Kevin Clements
(1:42:21), Lisa Wood (1:43:30), Ian Rogers (1:44:29), Caroline
Davies (1:44:37), Matt Powell (1:45:55), Linda Rogers (1:47:27),
Phil Strange (1:47:30), Karen Phillips (1:47:57), Kathy Williams
(1:50:00 ) and Simon Windram (1:53:22).

further 39 young runners also took part in a successful one-mile

Brian Beale from Burnham Harriers Club told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We had a late flurry of 60 entries due to the good weather
and were really pleased with the turnout - it was a great run
and we've had positive feedback."
