Burnham-On-Sea twins raise £2,000 from head shave for cancer centre

-

A Burnham-On-Sea mother and her sister have raised over £2,000 for a cancer support centre after a family member was diagnosed with the illness.

Elaine Luscombe’s son Peter is receiving treatment for Germ Cell Cancer and she and her sister, Celia Martin, recently launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for the centre that is helping him.

On Sunday they held a successful sponsored head shave at The Reed’s Arms on Burnham seafront in front of family, friends and supporters.

It was also the twins’ 64th birthday as well and a big crowd turned up to support them.

All money raised is going to the Hammersmith Hospital and the Velindre Cancer Hospital in Cardiff where Elaine’s son has been treated and his family supported.

“We are so grateful for all the support that the hospital has given us and we wanted to help them by raising money for the work they do,” said Elaine.

“We are delighted to have raised a good sum for the centre and thank everyone who has helped us.”

Their next event will be a coffee morning at Burnham-On-Sea Community Centre in Berrow Road on 20th September between 10am and 12pm.
