Plans for new historical re-enactment weekend in Highbridge unveiled

-

A brand new history re-enactment weekend is to be held in Highbridge this summer featuring military groups from across the country.

The event, called A Walk Through History, will be held on 24th and 25th August at the Oaktree Arena in Bristol Road, Highbridge and will see dozens of action-packed displays on show.

Those taking part include living history groups re-enacting colourful times and groups in the country’s history including the more infamous side of Victorian England, the Home Guard, medieval times, and the 15th century.

The event is being organised by several local groups including Burnham Lions, BIARS, the Oaktree and a dedicated committee.

Ian Jefferies, one of the organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s an exciting new event which is sure to offer lots to see for families and all age groups.”

“This will be the event’s first year and we think it has lots of opportunity to grow and get bigger in time. There is nothing like it in the area and we hope it will attract crowds of residents and holidaymakers.”

2014 admission prices are adults £6, children under 16 free and £1 for car parking. More details are available here.
