Burnham-On-Sea group gets winter safety boost from town centre firm

-

A group of Burnham-On-Sea Brownies will be seen more clearly this winter thanks to a donation from a business in the town.

Specsavers in Burnham High Street has donated 30 high-visibility vests to the 4th Burnham-On-Sea (St Andrews) Brownies to make sure the girls are seen when out and about over the winter months.

The donation coincides with the darker mornings and nights as well as Road Safety Week which takes place from 17th-23rd November.

This is an initiative from national road safety charity Brake, of which Specsavers is a co-sponsor.

Rama Venkat, store director at Specsavers in Burnham, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Now that the clocks have gone back, it gets dark very early so we hope the vests will ensure the girls are safe when they are on trips. We are very proud to sponsor Road Safety Week as it’s something we are passionate about supporting.”

“We’re very grateful to Specsavers for their kind donation,’ says Jane Mitchell, Brown Owl at 4th Burnham-on-Sea Brownies. ‘We go out quite a lot as a group so I’m sure we’ll make great use of the vests and they will help ensure the girls’ safety.”
