A Burnham-On-Sea musician held a launch party for his new five-track album in the town on Saturday.

Joe Mooney, pictured, has finally achieved his dream of seeing his own songs being sold on a CD.

Joe has been a professional hip hop musician for 15 years and he says he is delighted to be able to combine his love of music and his love for his home town.

Many local places and shops feature in the CD’s songs and video, which is called ‘Burnham On Blues’.

The album was formally unveiled at an event in Burnham’s Old Pier Tavern on Saturday.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: ” I grew up in Burnham-On-Sea and it has always been a place that I call home. I spent two years in Australia travelling and expanding my music tastes. When I came back to Burnham I felt that I was at home again and I wanted to do something to show off my home town and shout about how great Burnham-On-Sea is.”

He added: “The album is called ‘Burnham On Blues’ and it reflects my love/hate relationship with hip hop music and also how much Burnham-On-Sea has to offer. The five tracks include one called ‘Round Ere’ which highlights many of my favourite places.”

“I want to show young people that you can be an independent musician, creating and selling your own music and supporting yourself, without the need for big record labels and managers.”
