Highbridge students celebrate winning top Young Enterprise award

-

A group of entrepreneurs from Highbridge’s King Alfred School have this week been celebrating winning a top award at the Young Enterprise Somerset County Finals.

The event, which celebrates the hard work, commitment and success of students from schools across the county who have been involved in the Young Enterprise Company Programme, was held at the Holiday Inn in Taunton.

The students have set up and been running micro businesses, selling their products and taking part in trade fairs as well as competing against fellow schools.

During the event, the teams were judged on three elements – their trade stands, company report and company presentations – which had to be presented to an audience of fellow competitors, invited guests and judges.

Students from King Alfred’s School exhibited their range of designer clothing, branded ‘Hester & Gray’, and won the award for Best Company Presentation.

This year’s judges were Chris Freer, General Manager of The Holiday Inn Taunton, Adam Francis, Business Development Manager from Somerset College and Elizabeth York, Solicitor from Porter Dodson Solicitors.

Young Enterprise is a national education charity founded in 1963 to forge links between schools and industry. Young Enterprise aims to build a connected world of young people, business volunteers and educators, inspiring each other to success through enterprise.
