British Land Yachting Championships underway in Brean this weekend

-

Dozens of the UK’s leading sand yachting enthusiasts will be in action on Brean beach this weekend, competing in the British Land Yachting Championships.

The two-day event is being organised by Brean Land Yacht Club and was due to start on Saturday (November 15th) and continues today (Sunday), weather permitting.

“We are hoping for a breezy weekend. Over 20 pilots are set to compete in the event with four classes of yachts competing in this latest round of the British Land Yachting Championships,” a club spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The action will get underway at 10.30am on both days. During ideal conditions, the yachts speed across the sand at up to 60mph, making quite a spectacle for spectators.
