Mile-long loom band created for charity at Burnham holiday park

-

One of Britain’s longest-ever loom bands has been produced by dozens of holidaymakers in Burnham-On-Sea.

Visitors to Burnham’s Haven Holiday Village have created a massive loom band measuring over one mile – or a whopping 5,347.7 feet (1,630 metres).

The loom bands were linked together over the past three weeks and the finished article was unfurled around the holiday park during the weekend.

“It’s more than twice the size of the tallest building in the world – the Burj Khalifa in Dubai – which is incredible,” one of the park’s organisers, Carla Humphries, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We thank everyone who helped us make the loom – it really has been a fantastic team effort, from making it over the past few weeks to measuring it!”

“We’re donating the loom band to the wonderful group ‘Loom to the Moon’ to help them with their world record target for the charity Blue Skye Thinking to help fund research into the treatment of brain tumours.”
