improvements to M5 junction 23 welcomed in Burnham
Mayor has welcomed the news that a busy motorway junction near
the town is to be given a major overhaul.
Government announced on Monday that junction 23 of the M5 is to
be improved as part of a £15m road investment programme.
new scheme will see an upgrading of the junction to provide better
access to Hinkley Point and Huntspill Energy Park.
decision has been welcomed by Sedgemoor District Council. Claire
Faun, Corporate Relations Manager, said: "The councils
Strategy and Development team has campaigned for this essential
investment that will not only support Hinkley as a Nationally
Significant Infrastructure project but also will enable continued
economic growth in Bridgwater and support the comprehensive regeneration
of employment site at the old ROF factory."
