Runners raise £7,000 for charity by running 7 marathons in 7 days

A group of three runners from Burnham-On-Sea, Highbridge and Bridgwater have completed an incredible challenge of 7 marathons in 7 days to raise £7,000 for charity.

"My whole body is sore and my muscles are incredilby tight, but the huge amount of money we have raised makes it all worth it."

"All three of us had painful moments along the way, but the wonderful support of our friends and family all along the route has kept us going and made it possible."

"Matt finished four marathons on crutches but showed real determination to keep going and finish."

"The finish was amazing - we had over 50 people come out to cheer us and greet us across the finishing line. It was real special moment!"

The trio ran in aid of three charities: Petal - The Christine Woodberry Memorial Trust which supports cancer sufferers, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, and the Heart Foundation.

Scott has been heavily involved in charity work over the past six years on behalf of Petal that he and his brother and sister set up in memory of their mum, Christine Woodberry.

It all started when two friends he met whilst completing the Five-Peaks Challenge in 2013 in aid of Petal said they were keen to take part in another challenge and this was how the team was formed. The trio put in many hours of training over the past few months to get ready for the challenge.

"Each of the causes was very dear to our hearts and was at the forefront of our minds during the challenge," said Scott.

He also thanked the trio's sponsors - Taylor's Landscaping, M Mansfield Estate Agents, Avalon Leisure and Unique Gym in Bridgwater.

£7,000 has been donated to the mens' charities so far, and further donations can still be made online via their donations page, which can be accessed here.
