Thousands of pounds have been handed out to local charities and good causes by Burnham-On-Sea Moose International.

The latest lodge meeting saw the funds raised and collected throughout the past year presented to representatives of a selection of designated charities.

The benefiting charities are Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (£6,815:32p), Childrens’ Hospice South-West (£2,514:98p), Flag Flood relief (£1,523), Children in Need (£1,429).

Governor Bryan Mudge handed over his chain of office to Mike Lang at the annual changeover meeting, while Lady President Rita Harris handed over hers to Doreen Atyeo.

Main charities supported for the coming year will be Alzheimer’s charities, supported jointly between Mike and Doreen, whilst Mike will also be raising money for RNLI flood rescue teams and the Burnham Area Youth Centre.
