More noticeboards are to be installed around Burnham-On-Sea town centre in a bid to crackdown on fly-posting.

The new notice boards will be funded from a pot of £440,000 from Tesco to offset its store expansion plus cash from the Town Council and former South West Regional Development Agency.

They will be installed in high-visibility locations in streets around the town centre. Town Centre Manager Beverley Milner Simonds told the latest council meeting: “There is a lot of fly-posting in the town centre, particularly in the summer months, which is irksome.”

The noticeboards will be locked and local event posters will be displayed on them via the Town Centre Manager and BIARS Tourism Manager.

They will be sited on the side wall of Clarks Shoes, on the side wall of Shoe Zone, the wall next to the YMCA, on the rear wall of Nat West, the wall of Burnham Printers, outside BIARS, and at the coach park in Pier Street.
