Youngsters and staff at Highbridge Children’s Centre nursery are celebrating this week after being awarded a positive rating in their latest Ofsted inspection.

The nursery, run by Somerset County Council, was awarded ‘good’ across the board, after making significant improvements to the quality of its service.

Ofsted’s inspectors have complimented the nursery team on their work, with the manager commended for prioritising children’s safety and welfare – essential for both children’s wellbeing and their ability to learn.

Their report also acknowledges the support given by nursery staff as being a driving force for children’s good progress in their key areas of development.

Cllr Frances Nicholson, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is a fantastic result for the nursery at Highbridge Children’s Centre, which, thanks to its dedicated team, has seen vast improvements in what it is able to offer youngsters in the area.”

“The nursery has come on in leaps and bounds in the year since its last Ofsted inspection, and staff can feel very proud of what they have achieved.”

Nursery manager Sally Thomas added: “I am delighted with the result of the recent inspection. To have been judged good in all three standards required is excellent, and reflects the hard work and commitment of the nursery staff. We are always looking to improve the outcomes of the children in our care.”
