Ritz Cinema’s upgrade sees launch of live big-screen entertainment

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s cinema has invested thousands of pounds in new high-tech equipment to start showing live entertainment events for the first time.

Live music and sports events will be beamed by satellite into The Ritz Cinema in Victoria Street, allowing residents to watch them on big screens in high-definition.

“The events will be premium shows not available elsewhere and will include theatre performances, operas, music concerts and sports events,” the cinema’s Pat Scott told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We’ve spent over £3,000 installing the new equipment and the launch coincides with the tenth anniversary of us taking over The Ritz this year. This is a big upgrade for the cinema and something we’ve wanted to do for a long time.”

The new service will start on Saturday July 19th with a classical music event – Andre Rieu’s 10th anniversary concert from Maastricht which promises to be a “extraordinary and unforgettable performance of humour, music and emotion for all ages”. Tickets for the first performance, which starts at 7pm, cost £16 for adults and £13 for concessions. Call 01278 794123 for more details.
