Woman injured in Burnham-On-Sea seafront crash, closing busy road

Police closed Burnham-On-Sea's seafront on Friday after a woman was injured in a collision with a car.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the North Esplanade at 11.55am following the collision outside The Royal Clarence Hotel.

A female pedestrian suffered multiple injuries in the incident as she tried to cross the road.

"A 45 year-old lady was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton with leg and shoulder injuries," police spokesman Scott McPherson told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"We are appealing for witnesses to contact us on 101 if they saw the collision at 11.55am, which involved a Honda Jazz."

The road was closed for over an hour to allow the police's investigation into the incident to begin.
