Burnham-On-Sea’s Short Mat Bowls Club has been given a financial boost this week to help members with disabilities play.

County Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton presented a cheque for £300 to Clive Pearce, chairman of the club, last night (Monday, February 24th).

“We are very grateful for this donation, which will be used to purchase some new ‘bowling arms’ to enable current and new members with disabilities to continue to play or take up the sport,” said Mr Pearce.

The funding has come from Somerset County Council’s Health & Wellbeing Fund to help health-orientated community groups.

New members are always welcome at the club and those who are interested in finding out more should call 01278 783640.
